FACILITIES WITHIN THE SENSORY EVALUATION LABORATORY
The SENLAB is built in compliance with ISO guidelines and provides in-lab and central location testing services for all the major categories of sensory methods, consultation services, trainings and statistical analysis of sensory data. The lab is well ventilated, has ambient temperature and uniform lighting (mimics natural daylight illumination). It is also located in a quiet area and is free from odor.
The lab has four main sections. They are:
- Discussion area
This area is used for holding focused group discussions and descriptive panel trainings. It has a large round table, a marker board and comfortable chairs suitable for holding meetings. This area is also used as a reception area for consumers during consumer testing.
- Sample preparation area
This area is equipped with a commercial range of industrial equipment for preparing hot, cold and baked samples. These equipment include a fridge/freezer for cold samples, an ultramodern electric stove for hot samples and an oven for baking.
- Booth area
There are 6 spacious individual testing booths equipped with serving windows. The booths have well controlled lighting and computers for data collection using Compusense cloud software.
- Sensory panel
We have a group of well-trained sensory panels used for focus group exercises and other descriptive tests.
